Clockwork Adventures

I am here today to tell you about my new ‘project’ ..

Clockwork Adventures is my new Etsy shop. I make and sell jewellery pieces (mainly pendants at the moment) created from clear resin and teeny tiny watch parts. This is an adventure i wanted to explore for quite a while now, regardless of the outcome of it. Plus i really like playing around with resin now too, so this is a great outlet for my mess  creativity …

It would mean so much to me if you check it out … pwetty pwease??

Society6 Reviews

Recently Society6 had a free worldwide shipping offer, so i thought i would take advantage of that and order some things from my page to see the quality (that and i really liked the colours in this one)

For those of you who don’t know Society6, its a website where artists and designers can upload images of their work and they can be turned into different types of merchandise such as mugs, bags, t shirts, and phone cases. All the hard work of printing these items is done by the company in the USA, and then shipped to the desired address from the order. All the artist has to do is create the artwork and advertise it. Simple!!

Anyway, i ordered items from all the same print, Ripples, from my page. And i think they turned out looking rather good, if i do say so myself!! The took around 2 to 3 weeks to arrive since being dispatched, which is okay since they are coming from America.

The first thing is a tote bag.

Now these come in 3 different sizes – 13″x13″, 16″x16″, and 18″x18″. I got the 13″x13″ one since I’m trying to carry less stuff into college … For a size comparison i put my sketchbook for my project on top of the bag. The sketchbook is perfectly A4 size.

The next thing is a cushion cover.

I love the way this looks! these also come in 3 different sizes – 16″x16″, 18″x18″, or 20″x20″. These also come with the option to buy the cushion inner or filler directly from Society6, but i just had an IKEA filler that fit perfectly in this (which is the 16″x16″ one). All the fabric merchandise is made with the same thick material, almost canvas like. Its not rough but it feels very high quality for these items.

The last one i ordered was a laptop skin.

6 copy

This thing is possibly the worst thing to try and photograph since its so glossy and slick, but as result of that it gives it a nice finish. My laptop is a 13″ Macbook Pro and it covers it pretty much perfectly. I think its made from vinyl but i could be wrong.

Overall I’m very happy with these items, although if you live outside the USA i recommend waiting until theres a free shipping offer on the website since it can be a bit expensive once you’ve added on postage.

Doodles Are Fun

So college is going as expected … mostly. But i suppose thats to be expected from the first couple of weeks back. The new topic is ‘A Matter of Life and Death’, and with Halloween coming up, i decided to base my project around the Mexican holiday ‘Dia De Los Muertos’ (or Day of the Dead) which falls on the 1st and 2nd November (I’m still not sure why it isn’t called Days of the Dead to be honest) I love the idea of this holiday as its all about celebrating the people who have lost their lives, but in a really  positive and happy way.

On a happier note, here are some flowers i drew at college today using continuous lines and black fine liner pen. i really like the way it turned out!

Pet Races

I don’t really have much to report today. Except that we made a blue tie dye cow called Cow. I thought he was cute with his mismatched patches. The ‘project’ was to create a 3D pet that can be portable.  We then had to run down a hill carrying Cow the cow. Other people made things like unicorns and llamas, then started losing parts as they ran. Wings and glitter EVERYWHERE You’d never believe we are Second year students now …

Anyway, have a photo of some flowers i got for my birthday a few weeks ago. I thought they were pretty.

Back to the Old Routine

Well college starts up again tomorrow … Geez it feels like just last week that i started there and now I’m about to go into the second and final year of my course!! I think I’m more nervous than excited at this current point, but that might just be the fact i need to set my alarm for 5.30am and be out of the house by 7.00am …. back to the old routine i guess.

Anyway, early mornings aside, ill try to post more on this blog throughout the year (promise, i will try)

I’m Now On Society6!

Oh Dear, I’m bad at keeping up with posts on here … 4 months since I’ve posted? Whoops! I’ll certainly try to post more of this coming college year when it starts next week 🙂

Anyway, heres just a quick post and a bit of shameless self promotion. So if you don’t like that, leave this blog post now ..

You have been warned …

Society6 is a website that allows artists and designers alike to create and upload their own digital pieces of their work to be sold in different formats (like art prints and mugs, to name a couple). Ordinary people like you and me then order their favourite print in whatever style they like. Society6 then takes the design and transforms it into the chosen ordered item. There are so many great designers, artists, and illustrators on this site. You’ll probably be looking at it for hours on end at all the different designs!!

I decided to attempt this as a project to run alongside my final year at college (where I’m specialising in Textiles and Surface Pattern) and to see how much of a demand there is for Textiles dyeing in the art industry.

— End of self promotion —

Thanks for making it this far!
